8.25x5.25 mixed media collage in new junk grunge journal finished today. Fascinated by history and events that unfolded before our eyes in 1963, we saw Texas be on the national news then and forever by the Kennedy assassination. Long rumored to have been an LBJ hit, facts now suggest FBI Director Hoover ordered his death as JFK was after Communists and J. Edgar wanted the Mafia exterminated instead. Fearful of brother Bobby and the President firing him is another angle to the backstory.
Charcoal, carpenter's pencil, black felt tip pen sketched onto a teabag.
C&C welcome

Re: Jfk

Kay, what's really interesting to me is how a lot of your work recently has a darker, more political or social feel to it. Maybe the results of working in the grunge journal? Maybe the current world climate? Whatever, you're getting a lot of mileage out of your journal!

Re: Jfk

Wow this is amazing and very powerful. I remember when Kennedy was shot like it was yesterday. I was 12 years old and in school and they had it on the intercom and we all were sent home. My mother was ironing when I got home and she was crying and watching the news on tv. I still have the original newspaper wrapped in cling wrap with the headlines of his assassination that my father had saved.

He was a great man.

Awesome work.

This is great, Kay!

i love the texture and the way the various elements lead your eyes around the painting.

I also remember that day, watching the news on a black and white tv. We were very shocked over here in the UK as well.

Re: Jfk

I can't say I remember the day, but lots of Canadians just a little older than I do, vividly. It was a shock to everyone in western democratic societies and I think it woke us all up to the notion that no one is ever truly safe, especially happening in the baby boom years. Intriguing piece Kay!
