Re: least favourite artist

Pablo Picasso without any doubt. I find his work extremely overhyped and I can't recall a single artwork of his that had this something so exceptional that could justify his fame as a great painter.

Picasso was perfectly Picasso.

Picasso was unlike anyone else, he was like Picasso only.

Re: least favourite artist

I disagree. He worked on the ideas of other artists and due to his fame popularized them. Nothing wrong with this regarding the art itself, but those who really developed them first, never got the credits they rightfully deserved. He didn't invent cubism for instance. The idea wasn't in the first place his.
And from a point an on, he didn't bother to make something meaningful or even good. His toilet paper ought to had an artistic value because he was Picasso.
He was the Bill Gates of art.

Re: least favourite artist

That is my opinion and my answer to the OP question. Let's see what the others have to say on this question ( and not on my answer).

Re: least favourite artist

It's a tie between Bob Ross and Thomas Kinkade.

Now a cubist Kinkade might be interesting...

Re: least favourite artist

Mark Rothko. His square paintings and fame are due more to the circles he moved in rather than any talent he possessed. His work before was at least an attempt to paint, diabolically mediocre as it was.

Re: least favourite artist

Totally agree! It has to be Rothko, that is simply not art to me.

Re: least favourite artist

If those are signed and numbered "original paintings" in a limited edition of only 2500 each, with several actual brush strokes applied to the print by the artist, I must have one.

Seriously though - If Jeff Bennett's paintings were one of a kind originals, painted on a panel or a canvas I would love to own one!

Re: least favourite artist

Did Kinkade overlook the fact that cottages don't glow that brightly through their windows unless their interiors are fully engulfed in flames? I don't know what Kinkade was thinking!!!

So did Bennett notice the blazing cottages, realize that the hamlet would not be able to implement a blackout, and decide to use Star Wars figures to finish the job? I like to think so!

Re: least favourite artist

Is there even such a thing as a cubist landscape?

Edit: Yes of course there is. Duh. Talking before thinking again.
