My Tuesday Painters sketches

I paint with a group on Tuesday mornings. We do it all year but once it gets really cold we will move indoors, either to somewhere with a view or somewhere that a still life can be set up. Today we were at our local cemetery; it's a beautiful rolling setting with lots of wonderful old tombstones and I usually zero in on one of those but the color today was spectacular so that is what I did....

Such gorgeous and full fall foliage in this scene, Helen. Love this! I envy you getting to go regularly with a group like that.

Beautiful! I like how you contrasted the bright colors with the darkness.

Re: My Tuesday Painters sketches

This week we painted in a woods that is a park in the middle of our little town. We lived across from it in our old house... before we moved closer to town... by about 4 blocks. It was a bit chilly but sunshine helped keep us warm.

Re: My Tuesday Painters sketches

I really like the first one, the colors are fantastic. I have a problem with the second one's background, it is too confusing for my old brain.
Regards,
Greg

Re: My Tuesday Painters sketches

We missed last week, everyone getting ready for Thanksgiving. But back to it today and another wooded scene. One of our county parks though the color is from my imagination.... it's getting pretty grey here. I usually leave room to do some journaling but I was having so much fun playing with the background that I didn't get to the journaling before it was time to quit for lunch.

Re: My Tuesday Painters sketches

I especially like the first of the grave yard. Your tombstones are the perfect contrasts to fall foliage. I was raised in Flint and a family pastime was weekend drives in the country. Small cemeteries were favorite stops, imagining the lives of the folks who resided in them. Gary

Where in Flint? A Viking or an Indian or were you later when Southwestern was added?

Re: My Tuesday Painters sketches

Hi Helen, I actually lived 2 blocks outside the city limits in the Utley District, which became part of Carmen 2 years before I graduated.

I assume from your knowledge that you also lived in Flint at one time?

Gary

Re: My Tuesday Painters sketches

This Tuesday we went to Hemlock Crossing again but it was too cold and windy to be outside so I sat in front of the fire with a cup of hot chocolate and sketched some of the decorations....

Cool holiday decorations. Gorgeous landscapes. Love the cemetery with the autumn colors, that's just spectacular. All the scenery is beautiful. Love the pen and watercolor style, it's very powerful.
