Saatchiart Online

HI,
Is anybody selling via SAATCHIart online.
They have asked me to CHECK IN
which I have done twice a day for five days.
And they still seem to have blocked me now.
Anybody had any experiences with SAATCHIART online.
Thanks
Tim.

Re: Saatchiart Online

I tried to sign in as an artist and they asked for a scanned copy of my social security card. I never experienced this before and in today's world saw it as an identity security problem. I wondered if I was in the real SAATCHI art online site. Regardless I never signed on. I would be curious to know if this is standard practice?

Re: Saatchiart Online

It is a standard practice now for anyplace online where you are going to sell. They have to report what you make to the IRS on a 1099. They actually ask for a driver's license or other photo id as well, at least, they did. MY guess with that is that it was an attempt to weed all all the many many Chinese sweatshop type "artists."

Re: Saatchiart Online

Thanks for the replies.
Yes I did all that security.
Got enrolled. Have not sold anything.
ETSY is best for me I think.
They have this e mail system telling you CHECK IN
which I did - repeatedly. And said "FINAL WARNING"
Now it seems I am blocked
they seem a little unfriendly, autocratic.

They aren't friendly. But then, I do not find Etsy to be very friendly either. The people who have shops, yes. Etsy itself? Heck no.

Re: Saatchiart Online

How on earth would they deal with an artist who wasn't American or resident in the USA? Do they have to report that artist's income from sales still, or would a British artist, for example, just have to file with HMRC (UK tax offices)?

Thanks! I need to work more on my presence there. Tonight a friend showed me Marmelade (sp), which is an Etsy app, and it looks like it might be worth it.

Re: Saatchiart Online

Well I'm in Europe and have been on Saatchi for a while - no problems setting up my page, no requests for drivers licence or any other Id, must be just the US

Re: Saatchiart Online

Yes, being British, I had to go through all that. In fact, I only had an old style drivers license, so I had to get a new one.

Eventually, I got in, and uploaded all my work. Sat back and.... nothing at all. It's another site that buries you beneath all the other artists, and you never get seen in their marketplace.

I'm still on there, but I'm sending people to my own webpage rather than Saatchiart.

It's a shame, I do actually like Saatchiart, but it's never worked for me.
