I illustrated these fictional book titles in order to try out some new brushes and techniques on Illustrator. I think they came out well and I am realizing that I need to focus more on typography. I've divided them up between science fiction, mystery, and a little one off book with a southern California theme...

Which one is your favorite? Comments and critiques are always appreciated!

Re: Illustrated Book Covers

I love the first two. The geometric approach to landscape with the non-natural elements appealed to me and intrigued me. The first title, though, was a bit difficult to read. Illustration is not my area--I'm just killing time over here. I love books, however, and these covers would really pull me in.

The first title text is hard to decipher when seeing it. The third one has me stuck staring at the oblong rounded shape with arms, but the last one to me is my favorite as it all seems to be in unity.

Re: Illustrated Book Covers

I love the first two, they'd really make me want to pick up the books (apart from the font on the very first one being unreadable to my tired eyes). They remind me of those propaganda posters from the Thirties (I think? Art history not my strong point) which had amazing graphical designs on them.
