Dave, this thread was based upon English singer/songwriter Ralph McTell's hit ballad, "The Streets of London" in which I saw a parallel in the streets of Sydney.
The descending escalator is a metaphor representing the descent into bereftness. The despair of the homeless reminded me of how much I can be thankful for and the Photoshopped lens-blurred Central Station is a kind of misty-eyed departure point from what I had just observed.
