acrylic on canvas 20" x 16" prélude l'après-midi d'un faune

I once saw Nureyev do this work ... a short ballet but quite a good piece.
this however, is a wip ... I have yet to work out highlights. Mind things
always sound better in French.

acrylic on canvas 16" x 16" parmi l'art sur la montagne"

Something a tad surrealist flavor perhaps ... its quite a fun style where
anything goes composition wise.

Re: two today ...

They have such a dream like quality, somewhat like Chagall. I guess he was at least part French.

Re: two today ...

I like the first for it's design aspects, mood, and story- just a personal thing.

Very interesting and dynamic on these works; you make the viewer think! I do like the one where anything goes but mine seldom turn out this nice and coherent.

Ooh glad I popped in here, I really like these particularly the first/third painting,
love the added highlights and the way my eye travels around the painting

Re: two today ...

The first (including the rework) grabbed me more initially as the set lighting is more dramatic.

The second took more time to grow on me. It is a hodgepodge of interesting bits that I find come together well in an oval. It missed the fish at first glance but now like it best.

Re: two today ...

Thanks folks, not sure about the figure so I took him out for the time being. Shall
have to ponder on which version is best and/or get a photo of the faun figure
from a ballet photo and go draw ... a lot to get the figure interesting. Thanks
Mary, Gary, laf.art, Kay, thanks Derek, Ken ... the faun is giving me a
headache ... certainly need to do him a little better but well, that's painting
for you, one must practice.

Re: two today ...

What does it all mean! great paintings to stir the imagination. The man reminds me of Cezanne in his garden perhaps having painted a large cello. Interesting use of birds and colour in this beautiful painting.
