*** Daily Wash Wednesday 4th October 2017 ***

Good morning all

Hopefully we can dispense with the talk of guns, politics and religion today.

Rather overcast today, we are expecting a band of rain to pass through.

That leaves my favourite subject.....weather!

Dull,in fact it looks like 1600 hours on a November afternoon and it has started to blow again.

Market,hopefully gym this afternoon.

Site was down during night.

Sky a little brighter,wind a little less.

Caravanning friend coming 30+ miles to drop another couple of hundred windfall apples off...we will be running out of freezer space soon!

Good Morning all,
It is 6:00 a.m. in dark and sleeping Oakwood. Temps going about 10° higher than normal for this time of year for the next couple of days...a final blast of summer.

Have to do a good cleaning this morning. No cat hair to shovel up, but still needs a good scrubbing of sinks and sweeping of floors.

We're having polenta with sauce meat for dinner tonight. I've been thinking about it so Larry worked it into the menu plan.

to Doug, Geoff, Rick, and all who are on their way.

SYL,

Sylvia

Good day all,

Breezy, dark and 70 F. Very comfortable. We may get some rain, though.

Geoff, lucky you for all those apples. You don't have an apple peeler/corer? Other than Eileen, that is.

Hi Doug and Rick,
Bill

Re: *** Daily Wash Wednesday 4th October 2017 ***

Hello to all! We had more pouring down rain yesterday. I am moving at a snails pace lately with the move, as I have run out of room to stuff stuff and have only 1 bookshelf up. A second one has been stained though. Problem is we need about 12 more and don't have anywhere to put them, besides the time it takes to stain them. Tempting to just abandon ship, but I have yet to find some critical crafting tools and other things like the citrus juicer. A big motivation was to get my things organized. Son in law was flying back from Las Vegas last night. My outside dog still refuses to stay outside for more than 5 minutes if I am with her. Outdoor/ Indoor kitty is much braver and loves the new place. My indoor only kitties even want to explore outside a little bit, the porch at least. I think they all are really enjoying the large amount of natural light in this house, which will make winter far more enjoyable. Pictures don't really convey how stunning the view is from upstairs, and how many levels of Hills can be seen. Or how nice the sunsets are. I can also see the moon and stars well, and the sky. I had to stumble across very rocky driveway in the dark at the old place to try to see the moon or stars, now I can look out my bathroom window.

Linda, glad you are enjoying your new house. All my new books are neatly stored on shelves in my Kindle.

Doug, I've decided to stick to stretching exercises for the leg rather than see a doctor, yet. But I think it is improving. Thanks for asking.

Sylvia, I've never had polenta. I know it is corn meal, though, and prepared numerous ways. Will you pan fry it? What kind of meat sauce will you use?
Anyway, sounds delicious.
Bill

Re: *** Daily Wash Wednesday 4th October 2017 ***

Bill when I buy new fiction, which is pretty rare, I buy the kindle version unless it costs more than the print version, that I can then pass on to a friend! But these are older books, cookbooks and art books, geology books, nature books, that I prefer to look at in paper format. I still have record albums too, and the 8-tracks, cassettes, and even CDs that were supposed to replace some of them have long since bit the dust! I really have not bought hardly any books or music in years though, I am probably at a lifetime low number!

Re: *** Daily Wash Wednesday 4th October 2017 ***

Linda, Your new place sounds like it is a major step up from your old one. Once you get things stored and in place, you'll be able to relax a bit and enjoy it. When we moved (20X), we always got the "important" room in order quickly (which happened to be the kitchen in our house ), then the kids bedrooms, ours, then the living room. Try to get at least one room finished instead of a little bit here and a little bit there, it helps you feel progress is being made.

Bill, I will cook the polenta (cornmeal) and spread it out on a platter into an even layer. I'll cover that with my homemade tomato sauce and parmesan cheese. Then we'll cut servings from that. I'll accompany it with the meat that was used to make sauce (beef, chicken, pork) and the carrots from the sauce also. That is how my Nonna and my Mom made it. I used to love to eat polenta at my Grandmother's house. She would put the big board she used to make pasta on on top of the table and spread the polenta out on that — enough for 6 to 8 people. When it was time to eat, we all picked up our forks and ate from the section that was in front of us. Great memories of wonderful family times.

JJ, about your choice of topic to discuss.

to all again, time to wake up Larry and start breakfast.

SYL,

Sylvia

Hi Linda, glad you are enjoying the new house. Hope you can find room for your books and art supplies.

JJ - those subjects elicit strong views and can be divisive so better not pursued.

Doug

Good Morning!!

The humidity is back 25C which thanks to the humidity will feel like 34C. Bright sunshine.

Table Tennis in the morning, Ava pick-up and coffee with son in the afternoon.

That's it

Linda, too bad your houses don't have basements. You could box the books by category and put them down there and out of the way and yet still available when you need them. I too am really glad that you are enjoying your new home.

to everyone here and all yet to come and hope we all have a good day!!

Uschi
