Re: Beneath the pier

Very interesting -- almost abstract. I like it! Your sand is wonderful!

Yes , I really like this and agree with Kate, the water and sand is moving and the steel pier grounded. I remember being down under one and you have captured what I remember!

Re: Beneath the pier

Beneath the pier, beside the seas ....... but I don't think daffodils like salt water!

But I like your painting Sarah - particularly the shallow water and ripples over the sand - super. The pier structure is good, too. Those cross bars are mighty straight; wish my hand was as steady. Well done.

Re: Beneath the pier

I like the almost ghostlike shapes of the pillars. Fascinating how they have character. The reflections are good too.

Prima Sarah, there is nothing that can not be realized
in a picturesque way.
The foreground with water and beach looks great.

Atmospheric super sand and shadow interplay. Piers always had a draw for me and other children.

Re: Beneath the pier

Hi Kate, Suzanne, Mike, Karl, Jan, Ernst and Shadye - Thankyou all so much for taking the time to ccomment on this.

It's not the sort of painting you would want to hang on your wall - but, like you Shadye, I have a bit of a thing about piers - especially the supporting structure, with the seaweed hanging off it and the reflections in the wet sand etc

The sand is just raw Sienna with a smidge of burnt sienna and French ultra - then splattered, spotted and dabbed with a watery mix of the 2 darker colours!
