Deck Visitors

MY IMAGE(S):

GENERAL INFORMATION:
Title: Deck Visitors
Year Created:
Medium: Acrylic
Surface: Board
Dimension: 9 x 11
Allow digital alterations?: Yes!

MY COMMENTS:
From 2 of my photographs from my backyard.

MY QUESTIONS FOR THE GROUP:
I'm not sure about the background. In the bluejay photograph, all you see is grass so I went with all green? Does it look ok to you?

Re: Deck Visitors

It might be tricky to change the background now.. Nice work on the bird & wood railing..
The angle of the bird & railing makes me think of a bit of a grassy color and /or some far soft distant trees and maybe a hint of sky above... but then you'd need to repaint around the bird & flower somehow....I don't think I would try to redo it....unless this is mainly as a practice/study instead of a "finished" work..

Re: Deck Visitors

Thank you Lord of the Arts for your critique. I am going to try and change it to distant trees and a little sky in the background. It's only paint and I can always repaint. I will repost when done.

Re: Deck Visitors

Do you mix some of the colors, or are they mostly right out of the tube?

A bit of mixing will help them look more natural, tube colors just rarely look like natures colors..Try adding a tiny bit of a red to your green to see how it changes it..

Re: Deck Visitors

Yes I do tend to use the colors out of the tubes. I have been painting 1 1/2 yrs and still have a lot to learn. Wow what you did with it looks nice. Maybe I'll start with a background like that before adding my sunflower and jay next time. Thanks for the help, much appreciated.

Re: Deck Visitors

I didn't like the lawn chair I had put on this painting so I removed it. I think it looks better without it. Now it's done. ☺
