Doggie x-post

From the Watermedia monthly challenge. Water-soluble oil pastels (Portfolio brand) on top of a fountain pen drawing with touches of Chinese ink. White of the paper (Canson XL mix media book).

Thanks for looking Comments/critique welcomed.

I like the pose of the dog and illustrative approach. I had no idea they made water soluble op's.

Thanks for looking, Rich

Yeah, Crayola makes the Portfolio water-soluble OPs. They're student-grade, but very creamy in application. Fun to use; I used a hog bristle brush dipped in water to spread them after applying them dry.

Lovely, Lamar. This way you can spread the op extremely thin.

Thanks, Christel! Yes, it's easy to get thin application with the water-soluble OPs. I guess the same could be done with regular OPs and a solvent? But the water-solubles don't require the expense and smell of spirits or turps. They're fun to experiment with.

Aww, how cute. I love the slightly abstract feel to it.

Thanks, Ruby I decided it had kind of an accidental Modigliani feel, with the long face :
