Sunset Over Sea Marsh

I went on a motorcycle trip to the East Coast in June. Shediac New Brunswick was one of the stops - a really beautiful coastal town with great views - this is one of them. I enjoyed the way the patterns in the water complimented the sky and the abstract quality of the scene overall.12 x 12 on matboard. C & C's welcome.

Lovely painting.I see why you were attracted to this. Yes, the blues and oranges bouncing off the water are wonderful. I noticed a few strokes of the orange in the upper clouds. Well done!

It's always a real treat to see what you've been working on, Frances. This is such a beauty! You made the most of those sunset color transitions and all the abstract shapes on display!

This is very nice! I love how just a hint of light on the treetops makes the foresty area so intriguing.

Great work! Did you use a board as a canvas?

Re: Sunset Over Sea Marsh

Thank you so much for all the generous comments Ron, Karen, Donna, CaliAnne and Michael! East Coast sunsets, I found, have a special vibrancy to them. This one invited my favorite color harmonies - warm dark greens with blue and orange.
Thank you Gergab. The dark land areas in sunsets can hold lots of color!
Thank you Moises. I used matboard for this one. I gessoed it because it was a color I did not want and then covered it with pumice gel for tooth. It bent when wet but straightened out after it dried.

I also use Masonite board and cover with Gesso, then a mixture of water and pumice gel which is the formula I obtained from Suzanne Ogilvie.

I'm so glad someone else is enjoying gessoed board as a surface Moises! I forget where I learnt how to do it....it may have been Susan Ogilvie.
