I'm painting towards an exhibition that I'm doing next summer. My brief is that I have to fill 128 square feet of wall and it must be themed. So, basicaly, the theme is going to be my home town (Burnley) in summer, mainly
because I already have a few paintings that will go towards it.
But the more I think about the theme I chose the more I realise that many people consider Burnley to be bit of a dump, a typical Northern English deprived town, and much
of it is, but there's more than one side to every town and I'm aiming to show the other
side of Burnley, when it's at it's best.
The main of the exhibition will be made up of local scenes, some quite large, particularly scenes in the local parks and along the canal-side.
This piece, along with a few other similar paintings will be included to show that what may seem mundane at first (Rosebay Willow Herb is considered as a weed around here) can be quite beautiful when you look more closely.
