Re: Rosebay Willow Herb (Fire Weed)

Thanks.
I'm painting towards an exhibition that I'm doing next summer. My brief is that I have to fill 128 square feet of wall and it must be themed. So, basicaly, the theme is going to be my home town (Burnley) in summer, mainly because I already have a few paintings that will go towards it.

But the more I think about the theme I chose the more I realise that many people consider Burnley to be bit of a dump, a typical Northern English deprived town, and much of it is, but there's more than one side to every town and I'm aiming to show the other more positive side of Burnley, when it's at it's best.
The main of the exhibition will be made up of local scenes, some quite large, particularly scenes in the local parks and along the canal-side.
This piece, along with a few other similar paintings will be included to show that what may seem mundane at first (Rosebay Willow Herb is considered as a weed around here) can be quite beautiful when you look more closely.

Yes, but it's just a plant in the wrong place!!!!
Your main plant here, backlit, is a beauty - I like the whole composition.

Good luck with the exhibition too - are you keeping mostly to garden/floral works or also adding any nice street scenes?

Amazing. It is an enchanting wayside plant and I am awestruck by your capture of the summer light. Good luck with your exhibition. I hope that we can see the results. Don't you have quite a good football team?

I thought about it, but I think I'll stick with the green theme. I think too much grey concrete will detract from the whole effect I after once the exhibition wall is filled.

So they tell me, but I'm not really a football fan.

Absolutely beautiful. This is my favourite native plant (I don't call it a weed) that spreads pink across our open spaces and is the favourite food of moose.

So lovely! A weed or a flower, it still stands out as a spectacular specimen!!!

Beautiful painting. I just love the light through the petals in the foreground plant.

I quite like rosebay willowherb; it might be a bit of a nuisance but the flowers and stems are a beautiful colour.

Very nice! I like the lighting and reflections. Very realistic work!
Fireweed is one of my favourite flowers/herbs!

Magnificent, the sharp foreground and the blurry background!
