This old house "Inside" X

views of an old abandoned place near my home.
Oil on hardboard. The exterior can be seen in oils and acrylics forums.
Yes it was silent and spooky

Oh, what a mood these both convey! It makes me wonder about who it was who lived there. Very nicely done as always, Derek!

Awe inspiring work as always from you. Those old houses beckon one to wander inside and wonder who lived there and what happened to them. They are intriguing and yet sad, to me, anyway, sitting there empty.

Beautiful work -you've really captured the emptiness and even the echoes.

When I see places like that, I start imagining the renovations and daydreaming about how they could be fixed up. But some part of me also thinks they're perfect in the dereliction and that rebuilding is also losing something that only comes with time and decay.

I love these. They have a real Wyeth feel to them, but the colors are better. I also appreciate that you have made the one and two point perspectives correct. When the house leans, all the lines lean the same way. Have you made any big ones?

I love these scenes Derek, there is something intriguing about empty houses, so many stories. I have numerous photos of places like this but have never painted any. I like the broom propped up against the door, as though someone was halfway through sweeping up and never got around to finishing the job. I wonder why

Re: This old house "Inside" X

Beautiful work! As, always. You have a great talent!

Not at all spooky. It looks like a nice old house. My first thoughts upon entering a house like that would be salvage. What could be used. I could find a use for that hardwood floor, the bead board, windows and doors. Maybe more. If the house were in good dry shape, I'd consider saving it. I like projects like that.

Anyway, it makes a good art subject!
