Scavenger Hunt#512 -- Sept 17-25, 2017

Pls. help sign up as a host to any Scavenger Hunt in this thread.
Thanks a bunch... !!!

These are the hunting rules:
- All items must be sketched or painted from life --- no photo references nor from imagination.
- Be as “creative” with the subjects as you want. Multiple subjects in a single drawing/painting is fine. Count them all!
- No time limit on the sketches… as much or as little detail as you wish.
- Any medium is welcomed.
- All items need to be drawn or painted new from the date this scavenger hunt starts.
- No certain order for completion. Number as you go to keep track of how many you've done.
- Feel free to ad a tidbit about the item and/or what made you select it.
- Have fun

Thanks, Ai for the new list. The previous hunt got away from me. I jotted down the list and ... nothing happened.

Good job Jo on the easel

What... it's the next hunt already? I swear someone is messing with my calendar, haha. Looks like an interesting list, Eye. Thanks.

Jo: Nice easel, but the bears hugging have won my heart.

Jo - Congratz on being first. Bears made me smile. As I think you know by now we have a houseful of bears and assorted stuffed animals. Hey you did not count the easel which was first thing to catch my eye.

Keep sketching
Joe

Yep, where does the time go? Jeroen's self portrait quickie is excellent in last Hunt.
Thanks...

I sketched with the iPad today. Brushes app and fingers. About 30 minutes or so.

Number 5, animal - my newest, so soft about 10 inches long.

Re: Scavenger Hunt#512 -- Sept 17-25, 2017

Hey sketchers!

I wasn't a longtime presence here, or a very strong one, but I was really dedicated to the hunts a few months back (or longer..?). I got busy with life and finding a job and moving and other things. I'm not officially "back" because I'm still trying to nail down a routine and figure out how to work some sketching into it. I just wanted to drop in and check out what I've been missing (a lot!)

I live in Long Beach, CA now, which is, to me, sooo much more inspiring than the harsh desert where I used to live. I hope to be sketching again very soon.

Joan, i LOVE the seagull. I am so drawn to those grays.

Nice work so far, ladies.

Joan and Jo: Fantastic works:

Sculptcha: I hope you get settled and can join along our Hunt... as much or as little as you can with your new move...

-----------------------------------------
I have been extremely busy for the past 4 weeks.... today I have some time open for some sketching to clear my brain...So I stop at my local movie model l cafe...

#1 unusual mode of transportation -- a replica of a historical Chinese vessel called Zheng He, which some believed its journey in 1421 had led to discovery of America. .... I could not get the details in the sketch but the details of the replica is amazing...I believe in modern day Chinese Asian culture, having a replica of big vessel is supposed to be a good luck charm to your business.

#2 stair
#3 door
#4 my way ... my favorite colorful glass chandelier at the same cafe

#5 a tree -- around my village

Re: Scavenger Hunt#512 -- Sept 17-25, 2017

hello- Thanks for hosting, Ai. Very nice sketches….so much space in them , the stairway just seems to tumble down like an accordion…..nice sailboat

yep, the last hunt got away from me too. I too had the list but…….anyway.

Joe- glad to hear you have some stuffed friends,hehehe…..I try and keep them to a minamum but do enjoy their fuzzy faces. Recently acquired a little hedgehog and a not too little lemur. I put them around the house for a touch of cheer.

Jo - congrats on being home and being first to post……like Joe I am drawn to the hugging monkey…..the easel looks so friendly too. Love the furry friend….nice colors purple and gold…….great portrial of that type of “fur” it is usually limp and silky. I tried and do some quickies on digi format….that is tricky, eh. I am going back to see Jeroen’s selfie…oh my there is some outstanding work in there by the newer in the group!!!! wowweee!

Joan-just amazing work!!! love the way the empty bench is nestled in the environment and the bodylanguage of the woman -thoughtful.. and bird on beach..watchful, alert, questioning?

Seating area
flower-kolanchoe
tree-fig at twighlight - 8 minutes

Joan, good find on the bird on the beach. Ilike the clock tower and the front of the building with the shopper or maybe artist going to get her supplies out of the car??? Great texture on the buildings.

sculptcha, hi. Hope you get to join in soon. Moving is always so hard on the inspiration. I think we use our energy on setting up the new place...making it home, etc.

Ai, some great sketches. Love the tree texture and the colorful chandelier. Excellent job on the boats and stairs (hard angle).

Joan, clever on more than 4 wheels! Like the car quickie! Pretty flower, too.

Robin, looks like fun with the digis and digits. Looks like your sketches, too. Interesting, eh? Makes me smile.

Robin - Thanks. Nice seating area and nature sketches.

Jo - Thank you. I like your thinking that maybe she was an artist getting things out of the car.

Just one sketch from me today.
10 - free choice - watercolors and ink
