Okay, I am sorry I had to pull this out of my archives, but since my mother is no longer available, maybe you will let it slip in here.....when I think of comfort food, I will ALWAYS think of my mother's vareneky (Pyrogies in Russian or Polish) Oh, my. She made thousands of them every year, every meal had them....she made them with potatoes and fried onions, with farmer's cheese, or with sauerkraut. LOVED THEM ALL. My comfort food.

It is an absolute honor to have this as the photo that starts the "comfort food" thread. You could have just as easily used it for the "Tells a Story Thread". This photo is precious, I bet you got tears in your eyes when you posted it because I got some in my eyes when I first saw it. A beautiful picture of a beautiful lady and some good looking pierogis too, I might add.

On a technical side, the lighting on this is wonderful. I like the warm soft colors in the background. There is enough details there that shows what is going on in the kitchen. The lighting on your mom compliments her perfectly.

Thank you, Natalie, for sharing this with us.

Yes, I sure am, Lorell.

My wife just made some blackberry cupcakes that are great with that morning coffee.

I didn't have much time for a shot but these blackberry cupcakes are good. The blackberries from our yard were substituted for the blueberries in the recipe.

Re: Darkroom Topic Challenge #35, Comfort Food, 9/16-9/30, 2017

Those cupcakes do look good. I had some blackberries in the yard this year, but not enough to do anything with....I had just planted them in the fall.....maybe next year! Also have raspberries....BUT....as I said, my daughter and I are avoiding flour and sugar for now........sad but true.....those processed items are bad for all of us....so we are trying to eat more natural. Whole, unprocessed foods. So....that leads me to my daughter's breakfasts.....this is what she likes to cook, and I won't complain..(gives me LOTS of comfort!)...scrambled eggs with squash, mushrooms, asparagus, peppers and onion topped with cheddar and for mine, tomatoes from the plants that reseed themselves every year next to my garage in the pea gravel....
