My first gouache

Gouache on paper,size 9x15 inches.
I tend to use oils or acrylic paint, but for a while I have been thinking of trying Gouache,so I bought a cheap box of them for this painting.
I did struggle with the sky at first but it turned out ok in the end and I intend doing more gouache paintings.
The picture shows the tugboat Rossgarth butting her way down the River Mersey in 1972.
Dave,C&C welcome

Re: My first gouache

This painting looks as if you've always painted with gouache. I like the sky - if it was a problem, you solved it well.

Hope you do keep on painting with gouache as you handle it very well.

Re: My first gouache

ABA,Thanks for your comment, the problem with the sky was that white cloud on the upper right of the picture was going back to the paper when i tried to blend in with the sky!,I think I was using too much water.
Doug.. thank you for your comment.

Re: My first gouache

Some paintings are just fun to view. I love the brightness of the tug against the blue green sky. Gary
