Scavenger Hunt #510: Sep 1-9

I thought it would be fun to go down memory lane again so I found this post with songs.... Have fun. (Posting the original for the content)

Scavenger Hunt #510, September 1-9

Copied From SandyRGA, London:

Scavenger Hunt 111, December 3-11, 2008

If you've done at least one Scavenger Hunt and have time to host one, we'd really appreciate it! You can sign up by posting your name and the current hosting list stickie on Artwork from Life forum:

http://www.wetcanvas.com/forums/showthread.php?t=366347

Rules for Hunting:

* All items on the list must be sketched from life--not imagination nor photo references
* Each object you draw can count for only one item on the list, no matter how many shapes/parts/colors that object contains. This was agreed to by unanimous vote among the participants
* You may place multiple objects together in a drawing or painting, and may count those objects as separate list items, but no single object can count for more than one list item.
* All items posted must be numbered. Count them as you go. The first item you sketch and post will be #1 regardless of its place on the list. Do them in whatever order you wish, but count them in the order in which you sketch them, from 1 to 26.

Do as many or as few items as you like; you don't have to finish the entire list to participate! You don't have to comment on every post, but comment, if and when you can.

Scavenger Hunts last for 9 days, with the next hunt starting on the 9th day.

Please tell us your size, surface, medium, and the amount of time it took you to do each sketch. We love hearing about your subjects and setups. Photos of your subjects are also welcome!

The list uses song titles. (Yes, it’s a shameless rip-off of Ai’s literature list!)

I have put the musicians in as well but these aren’t meant to be part of the list (unless you want them to be).
• Reflections (the Supremes)
• People are Strange (Doors)
• Any one of the Four Seasons (Vivaldi)
• Parklife (Blur)
• Moonlight Sonata (Beethoven)
• Light My Fire (Doors)
• The Joker (Steve Miller)
• Up on the Roof Top (Xmas song)
• Longview (Green Day)
• Downtown (Petula Clark)
• Dilemna (Nelly and Kelly)
• Deck the Halls (Xmas song)
• Brown Sugar (Rolling Stones)
• Blue (Eiffel 65)
• Enter Sandman (Metallica)
• Play that Funky Music (??)
• Baby It’s Cold Outside (Louis Jordan)
• Water Music (Handel)
• What Is and What Should Never Be (Led Zeppelin)
• It’s Not Unusual (Tom Jones)
• Something (Beatles) (an easy/ ‘flexible’ one)
• Armitage Shanks (Green Day)
• Hello Dolly (Louis Armstrong)
• Polly Put the Kettle On (nursery rhyme)
• Here comes the sun (Beatles)
• Money (Pink Floyd)

Challenge 1 – Draw one item in 60 seconds
Challenge 2 – Draw one in abstract/ modernist style
Challenge 3 – Try to draw/ paint in someone else’s style

Have fun!

Hope you have fun! An interesting type of list.

Jo

I've got my thinking cap on, too. Maybe I can do the brown sugar. Ha.

Looking forward to the interpretations.....

Re: Scavenger Hunt #510: Sep 1-9

I picked probably the two most obvious ones, sketched with the Micron 08 and colored pencils in the big book.

Number 1, brown sugar
Number 2, blue

Good luck, Bonnie!

I sketched a while ago. Couldn't spell that on the sketch. Ha.
Micron 08 in the big book.

Number 3, dilemma - Should I sketch outside or inside?

Re: Scavenger Hunt #510: Sep 1-9

Love that list, I might steal your idea for my next hosting

Today was the first day of a week in the country. I'm dead tired from a couple of weeks of very hard work, so I hope to be able to relax and do some sketching. This pile of stones (roughly 15x4 meters and 2 meters high) behind a bush is a 'hunebed', a 5000 year old grave from the stone age.

I noticed I screwed up my hatching, since all stroke are in the 'lazy right hand' direction, as in too many strokes are from lower left to upper right. I usually try to avoid that.

Anyway, it is something. So I file this under 'something'. 3B pencil, size is small: 14x9cm.

Re: Scavenger Hunt #510: Sep 1-9

Jeroen, I really like your "something" even with the lazy hatching. Mine is almost always the lazy kind. Smiling. Happy you found time to sketch.

Gene said I should have put his song on the list (even though the list is copied from a previous Hunt). The kiddos had a song written and a CD made for his 75th birthday last year. The song is "Larger than Life" by George Ensle in case you want to add that to the list.

We have one week left here in the mountains. I am always glad to go home, but will miss the cool mornings and quiet countryside. We will do some visiting in New Mexico and Arizona before we get home.

Jo, thanks for the new list..or recycled list. Hopefully my fast paced art days will quiet down now that my paint-out is just about over...reception later today. Nnice work on the brown sugar bag and blue mug. Good thinking for dilemma.

Jeroen, love the outdoor sketch, especially the rocks.

Ai, what a wonderful colorful doll! Mozart fits in well.

This is fun!

Ai, perfect finds of the beautiful doll and Beethoven. I like the ideas.

Joan, you have been so busy. Happy these fit in the Hunt. I really like the downtown with the flag, as you might suspect. The taco lady is a hoot! Light house is a great find, too.

I was sketching for the Southwest September Challenge, but from photos. Sigh...

More ideas.......hmmmm.
