Geometrical Red against Blue

Acrylic sketch on paper size 7x13 inches
When this ship with 5 cranes, arrived in Liverpool after a 18.000 mile voyage from Shanghai ,I was struck how the red cranes made great shapes against the background buildings,so i had to paint the scene.
Dave,C&C welcome

Re: Geometrical Red against Blue

Dave - Wonderful action in the mid-distance - Areas of interest are nicely complemented by the open sky/water & the tiny tug boat gives scale to the scene - Well Done !

Re: Geometrical Red against Blue

Great detail. I sometimes put objects in the center and get called out for it, but I kinda like the tugboat there! Great work!

Yeah, the tugboat breaks the rule, but it works. This is very well done, especially the natural-looking lighting and the use of colot. Nice work!

I really like this scene. I love all the straight lines and angles and the red against the blues is really striking. The tug breaks up the foreground really nicely.
