Love all three of these, especially the colors you've chosen. But can you help me with the middle one with the field. Is there a reason why the very fore ground shows only the underpainting? The tones and values to me seem consistent but I'm just curious. Thanks!

It is a technique where the under painting is left to show through. Painters like richard schmid do this a lot. Nice to have a balance of opaque paints and transparent paints.
