Soldier Ant

One of many images I painted in thinned acrylics over light colored pencils for a proposed children's book

I've been doing a bit of acrylic/ acrylic washes, combined with inktense water color pencils. When you use an acrylic medium, like glazing medium, or air brush medium, (instead of water) the inktense pencils become stable like an acrylic wash as well.

It looks like you did a few air-brush splotches too.

Super cute! Love the colors and effect you achieved with colored pencils and acrylics, that's an interesting combo.

Those blobs of white were done AFTER I uploaded the image into my computer and were done during the digital clean up stage. After I got rid of all the sloppy junk around the figure, I just put the digiatal brush tool over those areas and....tap..tap...tap...and there they are. This was done about seven years ago....seemed like a nice last minute thing to do at the time. Not so much now

Thank you. Most of my stuff is done that way...when the pencils look great, I leave it. When they don't, I fix it with acrylics. And if that doesn't work, I upload it into the computer and try to save it digitally and if THAT doesn't work, I throw it into the bin and go out and eat pizza. There, the story of my life!!!

I seldom do cute stuff like this....I was commissioned to create over forty illustrations which I still have in a folder. Here's another...the "light" effect was done by running a digital brightness tool over the area until the proper look was achieved. The rest is all pencil and some watery acrylics.
