The Strawberry Thief

I 'm working on a printed canvas tapestry of William Morris' "The Strawberry Thief". I like the colours and the design. I find tapestry work very relaxing - my heart-rate goes right down!😎

Re: The Strawberry Thief

Looks great. Very meditative. I do that with counted cross-stitch.

Re: The Strawberry Thief

Excellent, Debby! I find cross-stitch harder than the tent stitch used on the tapestry.

Re: The Strawberry Thief

Oh this is indeed lovely. What a beautiful pattern, in images and color. I can see how enjoyable it would be to do.

Yes, Jen. It is a pleasure to work on it. I am taking my dog Cara to the Alzheimer's support group this morning and will take the tapestry with me, to do while she mixes with the club members.😎

Re: The Strawberry Thief

Thanks, Doug.

I was just thinking what a wonderful thing the brain is, relating to hand-eye co-ordination. I take the needle under the tapestry and, unsighted, am nearly always able to insert the needle in the tapestry where I want it, to bring the thread back through! It may just be me, but I find that fascinating!

It is so rich in color! And yes, I love that aspect of the mind/muscle memory.

Re: The Strawberry Thief

I've wanted to work this design for many years and have only just got round to it! The kits are quite expensive to buy and while I was buying wool for knitting, I couldnt afford it. Very pleased to have it now. 😎

This is gorgeous. I used to do needlework/tapestry a long time ago. I can't find anything like this in any store where I live and I live in a big city. It is like you have to go online to find kits/threads/wools/canvas for needlework anymore. I don't shop online unfortunately....I may have to though.....

Re: The Strawberry Thief

Hello. 😊 I had to buy the kit on-line through Amazon, if I remember correctly. Cross-stitch canvasses, both counted and printed, are more often found in the shops here. I did a search for "The Strawberry Thief" tapestry to find it. This is worked in tent, or half-cross stitch. I hope you find one for yourself.

Re: The Strawberry Thief

Do you find you stick with one color for a while and then shift? Or complete a form or section, moving in one direction through the pattern?
