Texas Wildflowers exhibit in place

Comments welcome. It was so thrilling to see all of my wildflower paintings on display on the same wall! I don't have a wall in my home large enough to do that. Lots of nice comments by passersby as we were getting the paintings hung. I didn't want to do an exhibit but now I'm glad that a friend convinced me to do it. I especially like that it is in a hospital so it may bring some cheer to those who are ill ... or who are visiting loved ones who are ill.

They look amazing on the wall together Linda. The frames really go well with your paintings as well. Congratulations on the exhibition!

Re: Texas Wildflowers exhibit in place

Thank you, Yorky and Wes ... The illusion "floating canvas" frames are from Jerrysartarama are popular, and reasonably-priced, especially when they are on sale. I bought them over a period of a year so it wasn't a big hit to the pocket book all at one time. I did decide to use longer and skinnier screws than what they provided ... the position of the screw hole for the offset brackets means that the screws go into the "ditch" where the cording holds the canvas into place on the backside but I haven't encountered any problems from that. So far.

Re: Texas Wildflowers exhibit in place

Not only are they beautiful, but having spent more time in a hospital as a patient than I ever expected it cheers me immensely to discover art on the walls. It reminds me of feeling normal in the past and painting and the hope of feeling better in the future. If I'd run across your exhibit it would have delighted me.

Re: Texas Wildflowers exhibit in place

Thank you, Christinal. Each time I checked the exhibit to see if any of the paintings were crooked, or to see who had signed the guestbook I was stopped by patients, nurses and other staff to tell me how much joy my paintings brought to them. In turn, their comments brought me much joy, especially when I was asked to extend the exhibit for another month.

Re: Texas Wildflowers exhibit in place

I love that you got to do this in a hospital. The paintings are beautiful and greatly appreciated, I'm sure. I've spent a lot of time roaming medical facilities because of my dad's health, and I often stop to look at portraits, pictures, and even signs on the walls. I think it is because it's a few seconds or minutes of a mental break, an alternative to all the reminders around me of why I am in that place. I wish more exhibits like yours were displayed!

Wonderful display Linda and what a great place to have it, in a Hospital. Where many people can stop and view your paintings and have a little break from what they are there for! Well done!

Thank you all for your comments. I'm having eye surgery in January and hope to have another exhibit ready by April or May.
