Greg's Sketches - 2017

Hi Folks, I have never really maintained an Art Journal as such. Most of my sketching has been on odd bits of paper, various drawing pads and digital sketching. I am attempting to gather things up digitally and in a single drawing pad or journal. All of these have been done this year (I think).
Regards,
Greg

Re: Greg's Sketches - 2017

E.P and Kay, thanks for the feedback and kind comments. I am going to try to maintain this journal thing. I may even invest in a hardbound proper journal when this drawing pad is full.
Regards,
Greg.

Re: Greg's Sketches - 2017

Hi Folks, here is another bird. I think it is a Titmouse. I seem to go back to the birds when I get into a painting slump. I’ve been in such a slump for months.
I have found that using a computer in my artwork has really hurt my drawing skills so I have come back to sketching and drawing to sharpen up. This little bird is 5”x7”, done today in ink.

Re: Greg's Sketches - 2017

Hi folks
This one is a 30 min. graphite sketch. I am finding that making myself draw every day can be a chore. I might try to ink this one later.
Regards,
Greg

Re: Greg's Sketches - 2017

This one is an oldie done about 40 yr. ago. It started out as a Silver Point and at some point over the years morphed into an ink sketch.
Regards,
Greg.

Love the darkness in behind the figure.

Re: Greg's Sketches - 2017

Well this is another attempt at getting my fingers to co-operate with my eyes. This started with a web reference, the drawing size is about 7"x 9".
A collection of pens and brushes were used.
Regards,
Greg.

Re: Greg's Sketches - 2017

This is an attempt at using a digital design as a background for an Ink and Gouache sketch. Done on Feb.2, 2017. C&C will be most welcome.
Regards,
Greg.

Wew! Great sketches, and I like how you did that last page with the digital background on the painted vase of flowers. Well done! You've got a good eye no matter what you use, pen or graphite or paint. Cool sketchbook. I've got multiple ones and still sometimes work on loose sheets.

Excellent perspective on the street scenes, too. Really liked the one with the reflections.

The flowers look wonderful and the background really adds to the overall look.
