Re: What do you draw on?

I use a drawing table but I draw flat as I seem to lose accuracy when it's tilted. I know a good number of drawers who use easels ... BTW.

Re: What do you draw on?

I draw on a drawing table, kitchen table, desk top, easel, on work taped to the wall, etc. In my truck or car, my drawing board rests on the steering wheel, the hood or trunk or tailgate. I work on drawings whether they are flat, vertical or at an angle. Sometimes I draw the image upside down.

Painting is done at an easel. Pen & ink I normally do flat or with the drawing table very slightly inclined.

Re: What do you draw on?

I have this white drawing board that you can raise to an angle. I tend to use that when I draw anything more serious. I do occasionally draw on the table just like that with my drawing flat but it tends to tire out my neck/shoulder area.

I have a constant neck/shoulder jam so I try to avoid 'crouching' as much as possible.

Re: What do you draw on?

Easel when doing gesture drawing and figure construction (anything that I move more then shoulder than wrist), in a declined ramp I assembled on my desk when doing fine detailed work (when I use the wrist )

Re: What do you draw on?

I draw on a vintage-style secretary desk with pair of drawers, a slide-out work surface, and a wooden fold-down lid that protects my work when I'm not drawing. I love this desk and have been using it for a couple of years. Up until I purchased this desk, I used a plastic folding table (cheap and wobbly). I've always found working flat to be the best for me. However, I use a sketchbox easel for my scratchboard work, with which I draw at an angle so the scratchboard dust can drift down and not gunk up the drawing as I work.

Re: What do you draw on?

When I am doing my study sketches, I use my drawing table as these are small works sized 4" X 5.5". ( Graphite or water colour medium ). I use a sketch book for these small works.

However when I am doing a larger sized work, be it pastels or charcoals, then I use my newly purchased table top Easel. It is of great help as I do not have to bend much and can keep reviewing my work at an angle from time to time.

Re: What do you draw on?

I use a draughtmans style table slightly angled down. The centre drawing surface is a sheet of perspex and the surrounding green surface is anti- slip matting this saves picking pencils off the floor every few minutes allowing me to concentrate on the work in hand.

Re: What do you draw on?

I am surprised that there has not been a bigger response to this post, given that there are some really ingenious people on this website.
I use a photo tripod (a Slik for anyone interested) with a drawing board mounted with a 1/4" whitworth screw thread and a tray modified to fit over two of the legs (the free plans are posted on this site)
I am trying to get a folding stand draughting table, the table is cheap enough but transport/postage is eye watering.

Re: What do you draw on?

I draw anywhere I am, and usually flat. I use to draw straight on the notebook, but now I remove the paper and tape it to a board. Recently I've been doing live drawings so I've been setting up on my bed
