Re: JANUARY Watermedia Challenge

Yesterday on Jan. 1, I attacked one of the images of fresh strawberries, as it was snowing outside and they seemed warm and inviting. Using Micron 01 pen on Strathmore Visual Journal for mixed media, I sketched them first then added watercolor; size 5.5x8.

Okay, since I went first on the first, it is you guys' turn

Re: JANUARY Watermedia Challenge

Here is some progress. Any way to get rid of those vertical lines running through the umbrellas? I am very happy overall.

Re: JANUARY Watermedia Challenge

Thank you Kreativek for sharing with us all these great pictures. Your first painting is beautiful. I will try to sketch and paint like that!

thevaliantx, good drawing, I like the warm colors you used. You say : "any way to get rid of those vertical lines running through the umbrellas? ". Perheaps you can use opaque color for the umbrellas? But I am not sure that it is a good idea, because your painting is well done and clean like it is now. You are right to be happy like that.

Christel : nice colors on the petals of your cosmos.

I will try one or more of the pictures of this month, but not right now because I go to see my two lovely grandchidren at Nice tomorow.

Re: JANUARY Watermedia Challenge

Thomas, I love your red umbrella scene sketch! As they say in Sketchbook Skool, leave the lines alone and ignore them as it is part of the piece. Most excellent work!
Christel, your white cosmos is stunning and stellar in its purity!
JJ, hope to see yours pop up any day now.

Here is the spaniel:

7x5 watercolor on Daler Rowney 140 lb cold press paper

Re: JANUARY Watermedia Challenge

Kay, very luscious-looking strawberries. Great job on the Spaniel. I wanted to try that one, but have never painted a dog before, and a lot of gesturing going on in that one! Christel, nice use of the white of the paper. I made my son do his watercolor sketch yesterday using that photo, but I had him paint the flowers in the foreground purple because he thought having so much white in it would make for an easy way out of doing art
