... tinkering with ATCs ...

I've been tinkering more or less with other mediums (acrylics, watercolors, color pencils, etc.) but I find that I enjoy and am most rewarded working in mixed media combining paper(s), card stock, found objects and related materials - measuring, cutting, gluing, clamping, painting, ...

While I'm not much of an ATC enthusiast per se (my interest was recently piqued when a friend gave me a package of Strathmore ATC cards), at the moment, I'm challenged by their diminutive scale and how much can be created in such a small area.

An image or two may appear slightly out of focus, added to which, I'm still trying to acquaint myself with the bells, whistles and settings on this new camera ...

“Saint Jehanne - Pucelle du Cieux” ATC Shrine

Saint Joan [of Arc], Maid of Heaven

mixed media

Dimensions. 3.5 x 2.5-inches (89.0 x 64.0 mm)

Materials. 1/16-inch Taskboard over ¼ x ¼-inch balsa wood frame; Strathmore #100 Bristol board; Krylon white primer/sealer; clear acetate; Americana acrylics “Buttermilk” (base color); DecoArt One Step crackle medium; Winsor & Newton water colors “Sepia” (antiquing color); Faber-Castell Polychromos pencils; collage elements; misc. embellishments; permanent gluestick, Aleene’s Tacky and CA glues.

Notes. When the future King, Charles VII, saw her he asked Joan her name and she replied: "Gentle Dauphin, I am Jehanne la Pucelle (Joan the Maid), and to you is sent word by me from the King of Heaven that you will be anointed and crowned in Reims and you will be Lieutenant to the King of Heaven who is King of France."

It's hard to see in this picture, the Saint Jehanne image is multi-layered to give it a 3-dimensional form.

ATC Charles Darwin Series #3/3

“evolve”

mixed media

Dimensions. 3.5 x 2.5-inches (89.0 x 64.0 mm)

Materials. Strathmore #140 WC paper; Strathmore #100 Bristol board, Faber-Castell Polychromos pencils, Pigma Micron markers, Americana acrylics; collage elements; misc. embellishments; permanent gluestick, Aleene’s Tacky glue.

Series number 1 & 2 = WIP

Creative use of materials and polished, impressive execution. Words fail me and don't quite suffice.
