My First Mural

My thread title sounds like the title of a children's book. :-)

Anyway, I have never tried my hand at murals before. Never too late to start though, so here's my latest decoration for my bedroom.

WIP:

And the (more or less) finished piece - I'll probably tweak it a bit over the following days:

And here's yours truly, standing next to the thing and looking very pleased with himself:

Did the whole thing with artist's acrylic. I don't know whether that is what one should use? Is it washable? Should one varnish it?

I don't know a thing about murals...

Re: My First Mural

I used artist's acrylics, various brands - I have a somewhat motley collection of tubes. It probably doesn't matter; I find that various brands mix perfectly nicely together. Not sure if this (i.e. acrylics) is what one should use for a mural, or whether one should varnish it...

B.t.w. I checked out your website - your murals are lovely.

Re: My First Mural

Being your bedroom, would it not be more fitting to have painted it on the ceiling, Brian?
I like your mural.

Re: My First Mural

Beautiful work. I'm going to start doing murals inside my RV I live in when warm weather comes. I've never done one before and I'm going to be really nervous when I begin. I don't paint on really large things usually. I tend more to paint real small and have been doing watercolor miniatures recently.
