First and Last Artwork for 2015 & 2016

Hi all,

In 2013 mollerman started this:
Thought I would try something... maybe new? Anyone want to join? The idea is to post your first painting of the year. At the end of the year, post your last painting of the year next to your first painting. Maybe get an idea on how much one has evolved over the year? I am almost ready to post my first painting but, it might be the one I have done for the swap, so I am hesitating for the time being... Just jump in anyone if you want. Oh yeah, it doesn't necessarily need to be a painting... any medium.

I think it would be fun to do again. What do you think?

Re: First and Last Artwork for 2015

I didn't paint much last year so I'll start off and see how far we get. I finished this on January 14.

Walk in the Park
Pastel, 9 x 12 inches on Pastelbord

It is in Texas, so I'm calling it southwest!

What a super idea, Jo. Your painting is so beautiful! Great summery feel to it.

I'll stick this thread so we can keep track of it.

I haven't got a first drawing to post yet, as I'm still working on it.

I hope to see a lot of replies, because this is a good idea!

Re: First and Last Artwork for 2015

Maybe these honkers are only seen in the w,sw in winter? This is a small pastel painting of three Canadian geese I found in early spring when there was still some ice along the river edges. Most geese migrate south when the lakes freeze over, but some will stay on as long as there is open water, often in the rivers. They also arrive fairly early on the rivers which open sooner than the lakes.

Mark, what a way to start off the New Year! These geese are so lovely. The water is expertly done, and it is so easy to just keep gazing at this painting. Excellent!

Come on, Gang! I'd love to see more artistic "firsts" for the year! My first artwork this year is a sculpture...I just need to get some good photos of it.

Re: First and Last Artwork for 2015

Hello you all! I have been super busy and museless, but I manage to paint something from the landscape challenge.

I had this painting I hated and just painted the surface with black, and was looking for something to do on top. So here it is my first one this year.

Maria, that is beautiful. The black background really makes it pop. Thanks for sharing with us.

Chandra, I really like your drawings. This reminds me of getting ready to start off in the morning. We would all get together after we were saddled and ready to go and get our "orders". Love it! Thanks for posting here.

Thanks Jo for the nice comment!

@ Chanda I love the expression of the center cowboy!
@ Mollerman does ducks are to die for.
@ Jo that walk in the park makes me smile! Love the puppy falling behind. So sweet.
