Re: Tiki

What is it? With a name on it, it makes me think it might be a cremation urn. Beautiful craftsmanship. What material did you use to make it?

Re: Tiki

Hi there.
It is made from Aluminium built up with weld and shaped.
Brass plate cut out.
It has the owners kids names, very much alive.
He gave it to his wife for a present. Just a couple, proud of their kids I predict.

Frame.

Re: Tiki

Thanks for the explanation and extra pictures! What kind of finish did you put on it to get those colors? Beautiful work!

Re: Tiki

Cool. I've used shoe polish to finish some pieces too, but I spray them with clear (satin coat) lacquer rather than using beeswax. It makes a nice finish. Thanks for sharing!

Re: Tiki

Your process is neat to watch. Love all the swirls. Nice designs. Lots of hard work for sure to build that up with welding. Shoe polish sure makes for a nice finish. I too like the soft sheen of wax for a final finish. Thanks for sharing with us!
