Thumbs up Show me your Studio or Work Space!

I'm not sure if a thread like this has been created before so I apologize if this is a duplicate thread.

I want to re-vamp my current art studio and I'm curious to see what everyone else's art studio or workspace/desk looks like.

Please post some photos so I can gather some inspiration Thank you in advance

Re: Show me your Studio or Work Space!

Here is my setup. I'm not sure what medium you use, but I paint in oils. I have a bit of info about setting up a studio on my website http://www.nitpickyartist.com/studio.html

Kyle,

I just spent a long time on your site. You are an incredible artist! And I love your attention to detail and studio tips that you have shared. Thank you.

I have a few different work stations where I work in my home.

Here is my computer desk:

Here is one of my drawing tables:

Here is another:

Here is another shot of my studio:

and still another:

and I might as well show you my brush cabinet. It's so I don't get dust in them:

Hope you enjoyed the show.

Re: Show me your Studio or Work Space!

By the way Kyle, that brush cabinet is an Ikea item - and probably the best made Ikea piece I have ever purchased actually - and, it comes in black now (for you to keep with your streamlined minimalist vibe).

I also need to say this -- when I took these pictures, my space was obviously in use, and very dirty! "Very dirty" for me anyway. I am jealous of those of you with newer spaces that are on the inside of houses. I am a renter and have to deal with what I had to on the garage I was given - and it's so hard to keep that place clean because of the big door.

I did put a good deal of money into the place to insulate and drywall it however. I made upgrades where I had to, even though I rent. It ended up it was still cheaper to do that then continue to pay rent at my old studio.

Anyone want to see pics of that space?

Re: Show me your Studio or Work Space!

I couldn't find too many of the old studio, but here was the outside...one shot of the inside, and my art cart.

And here's a shot of the studio I had before that.

Re: Show me your Studio or Work Space!

My Sun Room is my "Studio" or as I say, The one place in the house everyone stays out of...

I have an old metal classroom desk I found at my local Salvation Army. It really works perfect. The main part of the table-top lies flat or raises. 3 separate areas under the top. Right side is flat to hold all my stuff and I clipped on a piece of Plexi-Glass to hold photos and things under. I also have an old light that was my Husbands Fathers and it has a magnifier attached to it. My birds and my Yorkies keep me company.

Re: Show me your Studio or Work Space!

Wow, thanks for posting these pictures! I love seeing the different work spaces

I only wish I had a dedicated spot. I currently have a table in the family room where I have most of my stuff but when I am ready to paint, I haul my easel and paints upstairs to the bright dining room. I tend to spread out on there for days at a time, but them feel guilty during meal time as we all squish in around my supplies, so I clean it up and bring it back down. And so it goes. It helps when it is summer as we spend more meals on the deck anyways. We have a big family and a small house so that is the best I can do for the time being One day...one day...

Re: Show me your Studio or Work Space!

Last year my husband remodeled a building on our property that he had built for his ex to use as a dog kennel. I do a lot of stuff including pastel painting, acrylic painting, jewelry design and recycling sweaters and other fabrics to useable objects so I had plenty to fill the space. One end of the room is dedicated to painting, the middle is for jewelry design and computer work and the rest of the space is for fabric work. The large worktable in the center is made from recycled kichen cabinets and a door from a closet. I painted the doors of the cabinets with acrylics. One end is inspired by cards I have received in the past from relatives. The other end is a compilation of photos I took while visiting Keukenhof in Holland many years ago. The wall color is called Once in a Lifetime and was chosen to add warmth and cheer to my workspace. My husband installed the ceiling lights and I have several ott lights and different work areas. So far it has worked really well and it is truly a "Once in a Lifetme" gift. I have attached a before photo. Need to reduce size of finished photos before I can post.
