Refurbished cameras vs. new on Amazon

Would there be any reason to avoid buying a refurbished camera?
I see on Amazon that many come with a full warranty. Thanks

Re: Refurbished cameras vs. new on Amazon

This is a very late reply, but what the heck. There is no general reason to avoid buying a refurbished camera on Amazon. Refurbished cameras are brought back to a "new" condition and there usually is a warranty that is as good as though you bought it new. However, having said that, always read all the details of the listing. Sometimes things have cosmetic blemishes and if that bothers you, don't buy it. There may also be missing items in the package, but that seems to be the exception and should be noted in the description. I also tend to avoid buying refurbished items through Amazon which are actually sold by a second party. Amazon is very good at accepting returns but not all second parties are as easy to deal with.

That's my take on it, FWIW.

Agreed with Ray & almost clear your question. I am just gonna add few suggestions. If you are interested to buy some refurbished products through online stores then consider few tips before proceed.

Item should be factory refurbished product.
Consider discount camera deals to save your money.
Make sure that Unit has a valid US warranty.
Product has been originally intended for use within local market.
Return policy for the refurbished item.
An extended warranty for the refurbished item.

Do not proceed your order for a refurbished product unless you clear about above answers.

Re: Refurbished cameras vs. new on Amazon

I've bought refurbished before but directly from Canon with the same one year warranty that a new one has. It was a good purchase and I would do it again.

I've also bought a used camera from a very reputable store online and the camera had issues so I sent it back. It might've been and exception but I won't buy used again.
