My wife's boots

Hello everyone in wearable art forum,

I have not posted in this forum before but I am not new at WetCanvas, you may find most of my threads in airbrush section.

This time I tried a paint brush job on my wife's suede boots. They were plain camel tone before I started this morning. I did not change the base color but added this design which came from my imagination. Here I would like to share the results.

Re: My wife's boots

Hi again,

I added some highlights, and wanted to add the picture showing latest state. I left them aside to dry.

Cheers,

Can

What a cool idea, nice job. I might put a horse on my similar boots never thought of it before.

Re: My wife's boots

Thanks Trudi,

I actually thought of what to paint on these boots for a while, the place of stitches and shapes of suede pieces gave me the inspiration. The paint job covers the stitches and gives an impression; as if all was made from one piece. I tried to use the colors in American flag, but might add some yellow to the front area later on.

These are the first boots I have painted but have some hopes for future demand.

Re: My wife's boots

Thank you Charri,

People do find them unique, you're right... These became a present for my wife on St. Valentine's day. She wore them and people became vey much interested.

Here are some pictures after taking the filling out which kept them up right during the painting process. When they are worn the ankle area gets loose a bit since they are made of soft suede. Nevertheless the effect was still good I guess.

Great idea and wonderful job. I love what you did to an ordinary pair of boots. This turned out beautifully.

Re: My wife's boots

Thank you Loxley,

My wife thinks the same ....

I think of doing similar pant jobs on leather in future, but it turns to spring around here, I guess we are about to start painting on t-shirts from now on...

Re: My wife's boots

Valri Ary,

I am sorry for my belated reply. I have not checked forums for a while.

By the numbers who watched this thread, I guess the design was appealing to many, probably most living in the States. I am an airbrush artist as well, and many of my threads are in airbrush section of this web site. But I guess if one day I continue painting in the States I will prefer wearable art to airbrush, considering the numbers interested in these boots.

Cheers,

Can

How cool! You are so brave, because if you screw up, you could have a pretty mad wife! But they are beautiful!

Great work on the boots! I like the way the design fits in with the stitching!

Re: My wife's boots

Dear all,

Thanks for your posts, and to you HarvestMoon in particular as re-discovered my thread. Like-minded approaches we might have towards art I suppose.
