Should've Been. . .(Dapat Sana)

SHOULD'VE BEEN (Dapat Sana)

8x10 inches Koh-I-Noor and Van Gogh colored pencils on Canvas Board
Photo ref courtesy of Hannah Watts

Another attempt of working on a more painterly approach using colored pencils.
This is an experiment with lines, angles, and colors without much thought on a definite focal point.

The real story behind the title is that this should've been done with oil pastel but it's too restrictive to use on such a small canvas
so I ended up using colored pencils instead. The subtitle is a translation in my native language.

Thanks for looking everyone and C&C's are always appreciated.

I like your painterly approach. The colours are nice and vibrant too. Nice work

Loving this, I have had my hand in the middle of these many times when we kept koi. Fabulous colours

Gorgeous, dynamic and thoroughly mesmerising. I love it

The colours you have used just sing and work so wonderfully together.

this is really lovely and wonderful colors and depth. You have really mastered them on canvas.

I tried CP's on canvas and came out with a disaster.

Great Job Bluie! Koi are definitely not easy to paint. Even though you did this one loosley you can still pick them all out. Very good color.

Thank you so much everyone for appreciating my work.

I'm surprised with the positive responses, I myself am baffled about what I like or hate about this piece.

i really like this it reminds me of what happens in a koi pond when you feed them, they all bunch up like mthis, but are still full of movement

Very nice, I love koi. I'm using some Koh-i-nor woodless on something right now, they are quite different to use than the Pablos and Lyras I'm used to, very vibrant though.

Oh my gosh, Bleuie, the colors in this are so saturated and beautiful. Seems to me that you have more than accomplished your goal of a painterly look. Love the composition and feeling of movement, also!

Bravo Bleuie ! It is an almost an abstract yet one can see the fish. It is really painterly. Super job, as usual.
