wip - ?

Not sure if this is just about to be painted over or not. 16x24", acrylic on canvas

Re: wip - ?

Another winner graphicali, I love this one. It's resembles your last work, but stands on it's own.

great work

Re: wip - ?

The vertical lines/streaks seem to be laid onto a different background image. I'm not sure if they are helping. The background looks very interesting.

Re: wip - ?

Thanks jumper, I am still unsure on this one, it may get the big white brush.

Thanks madtripper. I don't know about the lines either, but before I put them on, the background looked a bit boring.

I'm not sure if I have interpreted your comment about a different background correctly. Did you mean that it appears to be a different background under there or that you thought that it really was a diiferent background?

The background was all done together, no difference and then the lines added as an afterthought.

Re: wip - ?

I can sort of see your confusion, but I think it's too good to just paint over. For me, the top half and bottom half don't sit well together. I know we all see different things in paintings, so I'm not expecting anyone to agree with this, but for me the top half appears to have a comical figure (a head) running to the left. ( I know, I know.... I have a REALLY vivid imagination!!!). The sharp ends of the straight lines somehow don't compliment the painting. In the bottom half, there seems to be some really interesting abstraction taking place. There's a delicious little corner bottom right. That piece could be a painting all by itself!. All in all I think it's worth working on, even if you put it away for a few days and come back to it with fresh eyes.
Sorry, I always rant when I see work I like! Hope you don't mind.

Re: wip - ?

I dig this quite a bit. To me...you should not paint over this at all. The colors are great - the comp is good. I personally see (from bottom to top) - it's almost like a path to...I don't know - I guess it's not really see as in more of a "feel" that I get from it - it's almost like a path from home (security?) to a path to destruction (so maybe a transition from cool colors to warm??) I could honestly probably go on and on about this one. great job.

wip? No. It's done. It's good. I sense the movement of the sea. I like it.

Re: wip - ?

Thanks brushwaggler! Yes, the funny creature is even more obvious in real life because of the texture. The painting is out of my reach just now, it's at the gallery where my exhibition is. I am off Monday and Tuesday, so I left it there, hoping that when I see it again, all will become clear, lol

Thank you Tracy and Sean, I love that all of you see different things in it, at least that is one thing that I am happy with!

If I decide what to do and make any changes, I'll post a pic.

Re: wip - ?

Hi, I agree with you that its not quite right, but I think its worth going at it again, the main problem for me I think is the explosion (firework) cutting through the main body of the painting...nice colours though!
