Removing old transfer lines.... or not

I traced my next project onto a 12x16 board using Saral transfer paper and didn't like the placement. Is there anyway to remove the lines or do I just have to use something else to retrace so the placement is right. My fault for hurrying. I do have another board to start fresh. Just don't want to waste an otherwise perfectly good board.

Marcia, I believe Diana has mentioned in another thread that she used a slightly damp cloth to remove stubborn transfer marks. I haven't tried it, usually a dry soft cloth has removed marks for me and I use Saral transfer paper too.

Different transfer papers use different removal methods. Be careful. I'm not familiar with saral, but one I use you can 'erase' by using water or dna, but that method will cause chaco paper to eat through the black ink leaving the clay underneath showing just like the line did. Some papers I use a pencil eraser lightly and it removes it. I would try to remove it first where you will be scratching anyway to minimize the carnage if it does like the chaco paper. If it takes off the black ink, it is hard to re-ink it with the smpersand ink. Not sure about other inks.

Which color Saral did you use, Marcia? If you used the white, I find that a good old grey kneaded eraser will remove the transfer lines. You can shape it so you're not erasing a huge swath. It will leave a slightly duller area, but that goes away when you spray the finished piece.

I use the graphite Saral on the Claybords and a Faber-Castell white vinyl eraser works really to clean up the transfer lines and ink-dust smudges. I'm not sure how that will work on the black board though.

Ann, I used the gray/black Saral So far I tried a damp cloth wihout much success. I have shiny areas now and the lines are still there. I'm probably just going to use white transfer paper when I'm ready to use it again. I used the extra board for my new project.
