****Daily Wash Tuesday August 7 2012****

Phew!

Congratulations to Australia on winning GOLD today!

This is a pic that my sister took early this morning from their home (they live in the Central Plateau where Mt Tongariro erupted last night).
Ash tinged cloud beside Mt Ruapehu, quite beautiful!
Scientists have declared a 'watch this space' scenario.
They had no warning of last night's eruption (apart from minor earthquakes over the past month) and don't know whether this will settle down, or lead to more activity (depends really on what caused it).

Amazing cloud Lulu ! For no more eruptions.

Yes, we got a gold in sailing.

Got home today to find the earth leakage switch had tripped. Our security alarm people had sent a message but I was driving when it came. Laborious pulling out of all plugs and it still wouldn't reset. After several knock backs by electricians I found a really good one. He said he could come up but just wanted a few checks first. First, are you on acreage? Well, one. Do you have sewerage. No. Is your grey watertank hard wired or does the pump plug in. Swipe my head hard with the flat of my hand. I forgot about that. I'll go and disconnect it. Back to the power board. Switch resets. He laughed and said it is always the last that you check. Anyways, power on and said electrician coming tomorrow to repair.

That's about it for the day.

Edit , Hi Geoff

Re: ****Daily Wash Tuesday August 7 2012****

Hi Everyone

Just checking in the wash:

Carolyn - I have been wondering about you and if you had your surgery already. Sending prayers your way.

Had a hard weekend here - our AC quit working on Friday evening. We had been downtown for Community Night and outside the whole time - could tell when we entered our house that it was just too hot.

Saturday evening was my 35th High School Reunion - was miserable getting ready for it - house was 89 degrees inside. it was good seeing people but I must say they were awfully grouped off this time. Most only talked to their little group and did not speak to anyone else. Also the venue pulled a fast one and told the girls putting this together that they had double booked the banquet room and put a memorial service in it. We had this room booked months ago. So our class ended up out in the main eating part in very cramped quarters and then there was live music for the restaurant so you could not hear anything being said even if the person was sitting right across from you. I lost my voice half way through the evening and we left at about 9pm. It will go down as one of the worst ones I've attended.

Monday started out with a car repair - luckily a minor thing, getting the AC fixed at our unit and taking my parents to Dr. appts in the afternoon.

I used to "handle" this stuff well but I am finding that my inner anxiety level really goes up. I thought of the painting the Scream last evening.

So hoping that Tuesday if a better day here in the neighborhood. A Mr. Rogers kind of day.

Sylvia - your grandson looks exactly like you.

Darla - Sorry to hear about your Mom. It will just take time to get through the grieving process. Hospice should have some programs to help her get through it. I also believe that it is just something that no one else can do for you----sounds like your family is being as supportive as they can be.

Everybody have a great day

Anita
Take care everyone

Hi eveyone. Well, it is "manflu", had a terrible night sleeping in 20 minute stretches.

Anita, I used to take everything in my stride but as I get older I find I worry about little things. Sorry you had a bad reunion.

Check out Brian's animation he has now posted it

Wonderful cloud photo Lulu, I hope the eruption doesn't develop into anything serious.

Hi Geoff, hi Annie, isn't it always the way. Hope your pump is OK.

Looks fine out there, suppose I'll have to get up.

Doug

Re: ****Daily Wash Tuesday August 7 2012****

Good Morning all,
It is almost 5:00 a.m. here in still dark Oakwood. Have the windows open wide trying to catch the cool morning air.

We'll be losing our electricity this morning for several hours because they will be installing a new junction box and wires to the new poles they put in place last week. So I won't be around until later today once they close it down.

Lulu, Wow, that is some cloud formation your sister took a photo of. the volcano is finished venting itself. I agree with you about being on its slopes at this particular time.

Annie, Glad the electrician got you up and running again. Sounds like he is the kind you want to keep in your phone book to call when you need help.

Anita, What a horrible thing for a restaurant to do to a group. Sorry your reunion went so miserably. Sorry too about you being without AC because it has been really hot and that would be very uncomfortable. Hope things are better for you this week.

to Doug and Geoff and all who are on their way.

SYL this afternoon.

Sylvia

Anita, so right you are re anxiety levels. Sorry your reunion was like that. I dodged my 30 year high school reunion several years ago because ? Who do I know?? It was also in Melbourne.

Sylvia, this guys number is most certainly in my phone. He was the only one who gave me time of day, despite explaining that no power means no water to the other so called 24/7 people.

Doug, even man flu shall pass.

PS tell your Yorkshiremen not to excel at anything

An interesting (I thought) bit of trivia; The practice of naming Hurricanes began with an Australian weather forecaster deciding to insult politicians he didn’t like by naming devastating tropical storms after them.

Too busy today to stay & chat but to everyone!
Remember to keep smiling; it makes people wonder what you've been up to!

Re: ****Daily Wash Tuesday August 7 2012****

Yello'

Hot, hot, hot here. We finally got the dreaded ickpoo weather. Had to go to the valley for my audition. Ho - ho - ho - tttttt! Driving back over the hill into LA looked over at the light sign at Hollywood High and it said 100F. Don't want to know what it was in the valley. Probably at least plus 5 if not 10!

Got home and since I still had some makeup on (it was fast melting off my face) I did this video audition -- right from my apt. Wow! Never done one before. They send you an invite with scenario and script, you video it, upload it to the site and casting can view your audition. From anywhere in the world! What an amazing world.

The other aaudition (singing) went really well. We'll just have to see.

Doug so sorry you are under the weather (why do we use that expression?). Nothing worse than summer colds.

Lulu what a beautiful cloud photo. Maybe it's really a UFO. Scary video of the eruption. Hope that's it.

Anita so sorry about your reunion and your AC. Hope it's fixed soon.

Sylvia hope the electricity is back on by the time you get home.

Annie sounds like a keeper. Definitely speed dial. How are Loki and Bo getting along?

Hi Geoff. Hope the weather holds for you gardening.

Darla and Lisa and Nancy finally caught up on all your travails. I sure hope things improve for your families soon.

I'm sure I'm forgetting some things. And I still haven't finished reading all of last week's washes. Must copy some of those recipes. Oh we're almost finished with the first crop of tomatoes. A new set of flowers has appeared. Gail it's called "Better Bush" tomato.

Okay -- HAWLTAIN and hello to all on their way.

Kay

Oh just saw GB win a bronze on uneven bars in gymnastics (watching replays)!!! Way to go!

Re: ****Daily Wash Tuesday August 7 2012****

Good day All,
Another beautiful day.

Annie, glad you worked it out.

Doug, sorry you are still suffering. Are you coughing? I read yesterday that honey (2 t.) is one of the best cough suppressants there is, especially for kids.

Anita, last year I skipped my 50th high school reunion. Just don't know them anymore. My 20th. was pretty good, though.

Geoff, gotta garden instead of golf?

Kay, good luck on the audition. It's a tough business.

Sylvia, good time to shop.

We have primary voting today. I have two places to vote at, one for school funding and another for polluters or politicians, rather.

Bill

Re: ****Daily Wash Tuesday August 7 2012****

Quick hello before I get ready for work.

Anita, you described me exactly. Things I could shrug off before, just simmer inside. I guess it is a stage of life and a sign to start letting go.

Lulu, I truly hope the volcano stops acting up and goes back to sleep.

Doug, just take it easy and go to the doctor if you cannot shake it. I hate summer colds, they hang on forever.

Got to run.
