British Barn Owl - FINISHED
My first bird scratch. A tiny 5"x7".
We'll see how this goes (no clever title yet either).
Thank you to my friend Susie for the reference photo!

Nice scratching so far, Ginger. Good job on the way the feathers lay on his face

It's gorgeous, but tiny, Allan and I don't think so.

Re: British Barn Owl - WIP
ok, it's lunchtime so I do not usually login but I just can not resist . . .
your British Barn Owl looks a lot like my idea of a Barn Owl (which I assumed was North American - but never checked) so ____ does it hoot with a British accent?! - I know - go back to work and don't quit my day job . . . .
It looks like it is off to a great start

Re: British Barn Owl - WIP
Thanks everyone!
Karen, I have to agree... small IS a LOT of work!
Jean, I 'bout fell off my seat laughing. I have to admit, I went by the sign in front of the cage. My friend, who took the photo, never told me if it had an accent or not. However, my hubby speaks three languages - none of which is "Southern English", so I'm somewhat immune to them.
Now, I need to decide if I can resist the temptation to color it!

Ginger
I don't recall any accent just the owl mimicking me turning my head to get the best shot. Happy scratching. Can't wait too see it up close.
All I can say for certain is that this owl was a "Hoot"!

Re: British Barn Owl - WIP
It is the same as the Barn Owl we have in the US (and everywhere else). They're the most widely distributed species of owl. They're broken out into subspecies in various regions, but it's still a Tyto alba.
I bet the British and Aussie ones say "zeb-rah", though
