Look for a guy with a really messy right wrist. That'll be him.

Thanks for the first few sarcastic responses. It's a shame you don't have an interest in the investigation of art history you bunch of muppets

Re: Who's who
Actually I did a search for two days for this artist or painting. The comment about the messy wrist was right on because he has his hand laying right in the wet (or dried up) paint on his palette. The artist also doesn't appear to be painting at all but rather in a mock up pose.

Re: Who's who
Try Tineye. it's a reverse image search. You may have to crop the edges off though so only the photo shows.

Re: Who's who
I've seen paintings like the one in the background in a (rather outdated) restaurant in my boyfriend's town, and I'm going out on a limb and guessing the man is a model. I don't know who created the painting, but I'll turn one over to see if there's some identification if I'm in the restaurant again.

Re: Who's who
Hey artguy, was not being sarcastic with my guess of Bill Alexander, and until proven wrong, will go to my grave believing it's him!

Re: Who's who
Hello John, thanks for your input, I have been studying the fashion of how the artist is dressed as I was told by the seller that the photograph maybe early 1960's, although he is wearing a waist coat which may not have been as in vogue in the 60's. If it is a photograph from that era William Alexander would have been at least 45 years old, and the artist seems to be more youthful than that age. In your opinion what era would you date the dress of the artist? I would appreciate your opinion.
Kind Regards Geoff

Re: Who's who
Well, I couldn't hazard a guess based on attire, but the cubist style painting could place it considerably earlier than the 60's...
