Scavenger Hunt #278 -- Aug 1 - 8, 2012

Scavenger Hunt #278 Aug 1 - 8

If you've done at least one Scavenger Hunt and have time to host one, we'd really appreciate it! You can sign up by posting your name and the current hosting list Sticky on Art from Life forum:

http://www.wetcanvas.com/forums/showthread.php?t=366347

Here are our rules for this Hunt:

* All items on the list must be sketched from life--not imagination nor photo references
* Each object you draw can count for only one item on the list, no matter how many shapes/parts/colors that object contains. This was agreed to by unanimous vote among the participants
* You may place multiple objects together in a drawing or painting, and may count those objects as separate list items, but no single object can count for more than one list item.
* All items posted must be numbered. Count them as you go. The first item you sketch and post will be #1 regardless of its place on the list. Do them in whatever order you wish, but count them in the order in which you sketch them, from 1 to 26.

Do as many or as few items as you like; you don't have to
finish the entire list to participate! This Hunt will last for 9 days, with the next hunt starting on the 9th day.

Please tell us your size, surface, medium, and the amount of time it took you to do each sketch. We love hearing about your subjects and setups. Photos of your subjects are also welcome!

Looks like a fun list. Thanks, Ai! Have a great time in the mountains. You should find some great things to sketch there.

1) Cart --- beach cart --- pencil

I see so many young families using these on the beach to haul their kid's things... so much easier than trying to balance everything in your arms as I used to.....

Re: Scavenger Hunt #278 -- Aug 1 - 8, 2012

Paul, the first to post! Cool. A beach cart would be nice. The only place we ever went to the beach much was in Peru. We had a conversion van so we would even take our gas grill and cook Argentine steaks with mushrooms and baked potatoes and set up a table with tablecloth and wine glasses. Fun. The Peruvians thought we were nuts! Nice sketch. The boat is nicely done as well.

Angela, hi there! Ah, love the red scissors. Nifty sketch.

Aw, Bonnie. You have your hands full. The dentist is not my favorite appointment by a long shot. Enjoy Calgary and have a safe trip.

I sketched this morning on the porch. Pen and colored pencil.

Number 1, red - feeder, Number 2, two legged live - hummers, Number 3, green - one of the trees out from the porch.

Number 4, orange - Texas cup and Number 5, brown - tiki lamp for mosquitos and the wooden table, but didn't color the table. Ha.

Re: Scavenger Hunt #278 -- Aug 1 - 8, 2012

Paul: Fantastic boat. It is so good that you get to observe the boats so often. The beach cart is new to me and your sketch looks so nice.

Bonnie
: Calgery sounds awesome. Have fun and show us some sketches.

Angela: Welcome back. I love the red scissors.

Jo:
Wonderful sketches from your backyard. I envy you seeing the humming birds.

Nothing much from me, just try to relax... but not that easy with 2 yr old Lily being so hyper. The place and food are pretty nice though. I packed everything and let Tone handles his own treats: choccolatte & wine. He forgot both. So I now have 2 wine glasses but no wine to do challenge#2 ..... lol

Re: Scavenger Hunt #278 -- Aug 1 - 8, 2012

Paul: Great sketches, love the boat.

Hello Angela! Nice sciccors and spools. Hmmm…..embroidery? sewing? What materials do you use?

Bonnie; Have a nice trip with your aunt, hope the dentist wasn’t too bad.

Jo; I like your sketches very much, esp. the tree and the birds. Colored pencil and pen…like the result. Might give it a try.

Ai; I hope you have a nice trip! I hope you get a good rest, and a couple of nice sketches too. Looking forward to those!

1) Tucked away at the back of our garden, between a plant and the wood-storage; our old brown water-butt.

2) Challenge no 1; An unusual vehicle.

Hmmm...got to do some studying on foliage and water...Not satisfied with those.

C&C welcome! Greetings, Hanneke.

Hanneke: Thanks... great sketches!! You get so much detail in your sketches, very nice... love your hatching/cross hatching... both scenes are awesome.....

Angella: Very nice green spool, love the color scheme....

Ai: Thanks, hope you are enjoying the mountains...

Jo: Thanks.... Your description of the meals in Peru sound awesome, making me hungry... I had some Argentinean steak one time years back and I still remember, it was delicious.... Great sketches... I like all your sketches but I particularly like the tree..

I feel like a kid in the candy store when I view everyone's sketches they are all so different but all sooo good....

Re: Scavenger Hunt #278 -- Aug 1 - 8, 2012

Paul, Jo, Ai, thanks.

Hanneke, an old habit of mine: When I do the scavenger hunt, I look for things I don't need anymore to sketch and then throw away/give away/recycle. I have too many spools of thread that I don't need, so I pulled out three green ones to go. I'm keeping the scissors, though. They've been sketched a lot

Mixed media: Scrap paper, cardstock, newsprint, etc. Ball point pen, colored pencil, watercolor pencil, watercolor, acrylics, Sharpie, highlighters, markers, gel pens, white-out, pastels, etc. I keep most of that stuff in a shoebox and grab what looks right while I'm working.
