Selling Images From Life Drawing or Portrait Classes

Is a model's release necessary to sell such images if the model is recognizable or would that be something normally covered in the model's employment contract with the educational institution? (United States law?)

I would ask the model, or the person who coordinates the life drawing sessions.

They should be able to tell you.

A Model's release is required if you use the image commercially, i.e. to sell a product. Selling one painting of a model is not usually considered a "commercial" use. There are lots of explanations on the internet, this one for example: http://www.betterphoto.com/article.asp?id=37
