Hunters of the North

Hello all! It's been a little while since I posted a WIP, but I have one for you now that I'll be working on in between my duck stamp entries. It hardly ever happens this way, but this painting already has a title, which is the title of this thread. This is a 16" X 12" board and it will be acrylic. It will be a couple of artic wolves from my own ref photos.

Paige, Nicki, and Dave, thank you! I haven't painted a wolf in a really long time and I've always loved them. So I'm quite excited too.

Re: Hunters of the North

Thanks, Laurie!

Here's an update for you all. It's in the ugly stage now. Definitely the stage I hate the most, as sometimes it feels it will never be pretty. I think the bg is pretty much done, though I may tweak it as the wolves come closer to completion. I roughed in some of the darkest shadows and will then paint over it all with a thin basecoat of the main color.

Re: Hunters of the North

Thank you Robert, Jason, Leslie, and Dave! I have a good feeling about this one.

More progress! I spent about 8 hours alone on the head and I think it's about 90% done. Hope you're all enjoying the steps!

Re: Hunters of the North

I absolutely adore wolves! Still would love to go visit Wolf Park in Indiana or Wolf International Center in Minnesota! On my bucket list to see them up close and personal.
