Master Study with a dagger brush

Just messing around on crappy paper.. I painted this whole thing with a dagger brush. This is my first painting with my new w&n colors have yet to use my new brushes!!

I know the rock is too big.. also messed up the tree in the upper left. The original painting is huge compared to mine.. mine is like 5 x 7

Hayley, I think that you did a very good painting considering the paper was not to your liking and you used a dagger brush! I think that they are a bit awkward to use.

So, what did you think of your new paints? Could you tell a difference in the student's grade and the artist's grade?

I notice it's a lot more fun with artist grade!. I don't have to layer so much.. the ironic thing about student grade paper + student grade paints is that you must layer a lot using student paint to get the color you want but you cant layer much on student paper!!

Nice paintings, Haley...esp. like the second one. I have always used artist grade paints, but sometimes use cheap paper for a first go-round & agree with you on it's limitations...can be very frustrating!
