Hibiscus Plus... WIP.

Hello, everybody!

Happy to introduce my new floral to-be-a-painting (WIP). Last summer we took some gorgeous pictures of well-bred Hibiscus from Longwood Gardens.... For a while I wanted start working on it, but had other projects in line.

At first it was supposed to be "just a hibiscus", but then I realized then I can try to turn it into something slightly more interesting. I had a narrow golden frame what would fit size of the board I wanted to use for my Hibiscus painting, but... it wouldn't look too good. Painting was asking about something slightly wider.
So... I came up with idea to make part of my painting into complimentary part of it's own frame. It sounds like fun project, does it?...

We will see, if it will actually work out for me. Mean while I started with blocking stage of underpainting.

"Untitled yet hibiscus"
14 x 11"
Ampersand Gessobord.
Fast-drying painting medium by Charvin.

Thank You, ladies!
Silly me forgot to mention - this is an oil. I'm using an oil medium too, but with some drying agent added to it, so painting shouldn't take forever to finish. I hope to have it done in about a month or so. Sure depending of two factors - my time availability and drying time as well.

More photos... Not much new - just some value work.

...and You can partially see my reference materials... of course there is computer screen on the left too, but at this stage I'm not using it much.

Re: Hibiscus Plus... WIP.

Thank You so much to everybody... Look like it will go slow this time, my June is looking... interesting. I have time to paint, but paintings like this take a lot of concentration, so I'll be only working on it, when it will be the right day. Do not worry, I will be finished in this life time (even two years ago one 8x10 took me about 8 month from start to finish. I hope it will not be the case with his piece).
