Is facebook taking place of forums now?

I used to frequent this site everyday and loved seeing everyone's work - Ive been away from airbrushing for around 5 years now and am starting to get into it again and noticed that there are less people posting on the sites now. Ive been lurking here for a few weeks and been to a bunch of different sites and am noticing the same everywhere - I was even at that airbrush-talk.com where they give away a free airbrush every month and they only have a handful of users.

So my question is this - is Facebook the new place to see every ones work? or is there a deep underground airbrush forum that I am missing???

I'm not aware of any "deep underground" forums, but I usually try to swing through here, Kustom Kulture Lounge, and Airbrush-Talk at least occasionally.

Facebook has it's good points and bad. The one thing I don't like is that in order to talk to other artists, I have to "friend" them, giving access to personal information I might not feel like sharing with a complete stranger.

At least on the forums, there's still a bit of anonymity and privacy.

That said, all of the forums seem to have slowed a bit lately, but it seems to be kind of a seaonal cycle once the weather starts warming up and spring projects start popping up.

I would say no Facebook is not replacing forums... Its a good place to play show and tell for a persons art accomplishments. As far private information you can not hide from the world... I just recently helped create a list of people from my high school graduating class for a 40 year reunion. To get on with it I subscribed to a person search engine to run down classmates and it works. If I used on anybodies name I can get address, phone if they have one, the same for e-mail, and age. You do get a list of the same name but there is ways to narrow the search down for the correct person. The more money you pay for the subscription the more information they release.

I wil not use FB for any reason.

I like the little privacy I still have the illusion of having.

This is where you-all will find me, day in and day out. The acquaintainces I have made are satisfying and I can enjoy them without the constant hassle of all those (so-called) friends.
