DJ you just keep growing and growing and this is a stunning example. Love the sense of illustrative lines as well that seem to be used. Fantastic to see what you are doing with your loose strokes and application of the pastel.

ust a nosy question...Do you photograph your models or do you work from life....in particular the one where she's putting on eye makeup? Seems like that would be a hard pose to hold for long.

chatfieldstudios the make up image is from a set of photographs of Caitlin putting make up on - she is a special young model - a dancer and performer and can forget that I am there - but has a natural elegance -
the other is from her sitting in the flesh...
I was talking to her about this this morning -
she comes about two times a week or more and I find because I am getting to know what she looks like AND a bit of her character I can work from photographs of her as well from the flesh -
but obviously the more and closer you look at the real person the more wonderful colours you see in her flesh etc - whereas the colour information in a photograph is really limited - but nothing beats the spark in a drawing from being in the models presence... I work one to one which is expensive but I need the privacy to work!
