Re: Flowers
Marc, you Aussies certainly get high temps early in the season! Good grief, we are back to 15 degrees and what is referred to as ' fresh westerlies'. Fresh enough to almost blow us off balance and wrap the clothes several times around the clothes line, as well as thrash the flowers etc.
Beautiful flowers, of course, as per usual
Aral, that's a very interesting photo. Presume you can WALK on that moss but must be very slippy! The wonderful Iceberg! We are hoping it comes closer to New Zealand, before Australia gets it. The sheer beauty of them, together with the size, and amount under the water...amazing.
So far, these are the best (?) photos I've been able to get of our Tui's.
1.
2.
Photos taken with our first digital camera (Kodak CX 4200). Latest camera would do a better job, but have never seen the Tui's so close again, naturally
Another 'mystery flower
Any ideas what it is? That's some homework for the weekend ahead, in case you guys are tucked up in front of the fire with a blizzard outside.

Re: Flowers
Ann great photos. Must look up both bird and flowers
Regarding the moss. We can walk but you only need to take few steps into this lava/moss field and you realise that the lava rocks are loose underneath and also the moss grows over fisures. So we do not tend to walk much in this kind of moss. It can be very dangerous.

Re: Flowers
Hi Gypsytoo and Aral,
That sure is an attractive flower, One I haven't seen before, wouldn't have a clue. Your Tui looks similar to our Honey eater.
Aral, not only do you have Lava fields that kill and glacier's that swallow you whole you have moss covered rocks that bite, interesting place you don't need any of our killer animals or insects to make your place dangerous.
Found a morning glory under a cactus.

Re: Flowers
Hi Aral,
I agree with you on the colour, it is deep and rich, Lyn headed me off in that direction.
I think I found the plant with purple berries that Marmsk posted a short while back, but the berries have not matured yet, have to wait and if the same I'll ask the owner what they are.

Re: Flowers
One of my favourite birds, the White (or Wax) eye). They can be a pest around grapevines, as can many other birds. They move so fast, I was lucky to be by an open window when several of them descended on the flowers
Marc the morning glory is a work of art, for sure! I love that cacti flower...white with the touch of green. So beautiful, I sit here gazing at it for quite a while.

Re: Flowers
Hi Gypsytoo,
Great little bird and lovely flower, I see you have little bells there as well.
Thanks for the C's on Morning glory, cactus flower I posted last year when I discovered it here in town, hard to keep away from it, such a pretty flower, have to keep at good distance though the cactus spikes are unpleasant.
Thanks Lyn keep warm.

Re: Flowers
Marc, that wasn't very clever of you! Way too hot over there, lad, to be out and about. Hope your house is cool, or you can get shade somewhere.
Just tried again, to put on a resized photo from this new laptop, but no success.
