Sherril Kahn's books... the latest is Creative Embellishments. Her web site lists all 3 of her books and she has a project showing right now about painting fabric... http://www.impressmenow.com/index.htm

Re: Fiber Arts Links, Books and Resources
Here's a great site for quilters which features tons of quilt blocks with color photographs and full instructions for the block and in most cases links to photographs of quilt ideas for using the block. They also have a link to applique patterns, and instructions on the basics for beginners:

Great Resource for Fiber Artists
I just picked up a magazine that turned out to be a great resource for fiber art and I want to share the information with you all.
It's published by Mary Engelbreit's Home Companion, but even if you are not a fan of their publications this is still a great resource for you. It's called "GUIDE TO CREATIVE LIVING a sourcebook for arts and crafts" and contains sections with literally pages and pages of resources for supplies and so forth on a wide variety of topics including:
Quilting
Sewing
Needle Arts
Knitting
There's much more as well. There are company names, locations, email and web addresses, contacts, and descriptions of the business's products and services. The publication also contains information on getting started in the various fiber arts. Check it out!

Re: Fiber Arts Links, Books and Resources
This link came from my favorite college freshman, Alice. She's amazing and finds the most interesting sites. This one is all about sewing and crafting and features stuffed animals among other things, with lists of tutorials and links to sewing, applique, crafts in general and kids crafts. It's well worth looking at. I've also added it to the sticky/thread that has tons of links, books and resources recommended. If you haven't look at it, I recommend it.

Yarn Bombing:The Art of Crochet and Knit Graffiti

I am happy to say Yellow Springs Ohio has a two page spread featuring my Jafagirl groups knit graffiti What is fun about this book is seeing how yarn has become a means of personal expression outside of the traditional. Some of the knit graffiti is really fabulous, I particularly liked the knitted toadstools placed in gardens
