Quick picture when I was first learning ,I like it because I didn't know anything. Now as I am learning more 8months latter I'm not liking my pictures as much.

They are getting muddy and too complex

Do others go through this pickle?

The only thing wrong with this is that it's only 5X8" This is a very saleable image IMO, if that happens to be your objective, but it needs to be a half sheet. Show some of your more recent stuff that you are having problems with. That's the purpose of the crits.
