Re: Woman with Musical Instrument WIP

Oh my people, my people. This is one of the reasons I love this place. All of the advice was right and so very gently given.
Rod...I fixed the strings and her left arm, great advice.
Mychael...In fixing the too lightness (is there such a word?) I corrected the angle of the strings. They fade into an off angle at the top.
Cathy... I could have spent weeks figuring this one out, thank you. I couldn't tell if her face was too dark or her hands were too light, it was both. I darkened the hands with a watercolor pencil and brought out the highlights in her face. I also really lightened her shoulder so you are forced to look at her face as your eye is drawn to the shoulder. I formed my triangle with the hands, the shoulder, and the strings.
Patrick...A trombone, (she rolls her eyes and giggles)
Harold You were right about darkening the strings just at the top. It helped the composition in many ways.
I would call this a group effort. Thank you.

Diana

Sigh, it's just so beautiful...makes me want to re-work Zach again.
Just so beautiful...did I say that?
Are you going to have prints made?

Beautiful as usual. Could be a bass or a viola.

An absolute breathtaking masterpiece Diana. Wow! Diana I thought the piece was perfect to begin with but now . . .speechless . . .

. . .I feel as if I should be paying tuition for all the things I'm learning here! And I second Karen's question, will u be having prints made??

Yep- I think all of the recomendations helped to pull this one together perfectly. Really think the minor changes made it a better piece. Of course the exceptional artist behind it really gets all the credit from me though!!

Harold expressed exactly what I was thinking but hesitated to say. Just a little darker. One of your best. Wow.

Diana, I am just utterly amazed at the control you have in creating your skin texture. It is so smooth and the contours are incredible. The things you do with a scratching tool are fantastic and so inspiring.

Re: Woman with Musical Instrument WIP

Thank you all so much.
Karen and Mychael...I am looking into prints tomorrow why don't you pm me about that.
Cathy...Sometimes it really is a case of not being able to see the forest for the trees. You can either get friends to help or put it away for days and come back to it, or both.
Harold...I believe part of my success with skin texture is a light touch and short, even lines for crosshatching. Of course several decades of experience helps too.
Terri...Don't hesitate in the future. If I ask for advice, I really want it. It truely is one of the better benefits of this forum.

Thank you Oyama, I hoped she would come off moody and a bit sensual.

Patrick...With all the newbies to the dark side it feels like the pace as well as the bench mark has moved up. I am finding it difficult to keep up with all the posts, but I don't want to miss a thing. So much to learn, so little time to learn it.
